Salmon Salsa Cruda

These days most of us are just too busy to make a fancy meal; especially one that takes an hour to prep during the week. Creativeness?? You were just at work for 8 hours being creative- c’mon!!

So you don’t have time to cook from scratch, but you don’t want to cook out of a box either. Well sometimes the best food, is the simplest of foods. Ie: food that hasn’t been processed, handled, boiled, or fried- it’s what I like to call: real food 🙂

Do you know where your closest fish market is from your home? If you’ve never been to a fish market, make it this weekends homework. Fresh fish is so delicious- you can freeze a whole fish so you’re trips will be seldom, and not to mention cheaper. (Ding ding ding!!!) Salmon tartare anyone? No need to spend 20$ on the appetizer in some restaurant- make it at home! I’ll be posting that in a few weeks- but for now I have some fresh salmon with a fresh salsa cruda to top. I did cook the salmon, but left it pink in the middle (I would not recommend doing this with grocery store bought fish). The salsa cruda can be changed in so many ways- I kept mine colourful with Mediterranean ingredients, and a touch of heat.

Serves 2


  • 2 Salmon Fillets
  • 1 tomato
  • 1/2 avocado
  • 1 Tbsp capers
  • 1 Tbsp parsley
  • 2 hot peppers (or 1 jalapeño pepper- seedless)
  • 1/2 garlic clove (minced)
  • 1 Tbsp minced red onion
  • 1 tsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1 Tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
  • salt & pepper to taste


Preheat oven to 400° F. Salt and pepper the salmon fillets. Bake for 9-12 minutes. Meanwhile dice tomato, avocado and hot peppers and add in large bowl. Add remaining ingredients and mix. Top over salmon once out of the oven. EAT!
